Aisuluu TYNYBEKOVA (KGZ) faced a daunting path at the 2019 World Championships but became Kyrgyzstan’s first-ever world champion after five wins in Nur-Sultan. The 27-year-old’s route to the 62kg gold medal included victories over Yukako KAWAI (JPN), a defending world finalist, and past world title holders, Yuliia TKACH OSTAPCHUK (UKR) and Taybe Mustafa YUSEIN (BUL). Tynybekova earned a place in Kyrgyzstan's sporting history as the first wrestler to win a senior world title when she captured the 62kg women’s gold medal with a 5-3 victory over defending champion Yusein. In the finals, Tynybekova gave up a point on the activity clock, then scored a takedown to lead 2-1 going into the second period. She added a stepout point but fell behind 3-3 on criteria when Yusein scored 2 with a stepover with a minute to go. Tynybekova scored a takedown with 10 seconds left to knock off Yusein, 5-3. After her title-winning efforts, Tynybekova said, “When I started wrestling, it was just a dream for me to become a world champion.
